Inspired by the provocative published work of Henrik Drescher and featuring the superb moveable paper dolls created by sculptor and animator Valentin, Tales from the Crib delivers the nuts & bolts truth about child rearing in a series of short, animated comedy films. An irresistible mix of retro-style artwork and retro-style animation results from the combination of dramatic computer and stop-motion images. Tales from the Crib is introduced by a voice-over narration, in the style of public service announcements of the 1950's… Archival footage gives way to original stop-motion animation depicting an idyllic picture of family life blithely following the narrator's sensible words of advice on achieving domestic harmony and healthy offspring. The picture perfect stop-motion world then morphs to reveal another reality every bit as funny, absurd, and scary as the first but with an unblinking truth that is painfully recognizable to any parent or offspring! This series is currently being co-produced by the National Film Board of Canada with producer, Marcy Page. http://www.nfb.ca/animation/html/en/04_studios/marcy_page_e.html Tales from the Crib is being produced for broadcast on CTV/The Comedy Network and for theatrical release in 35mm format. It will be available as of Spring 2004.
